I learned how to cook from my Dad. Like me, he had no formal culinary training. Still today, a lot of my favorite recipes are based on things he used to make for me when I would visit him on weekends. You will also notice a lot of vegetarian dishes which I got from my mother, who I joke is the only person I know who can ruin a salad. I did develop a love for vegetables, gardening and the environment from her. If this site becomes my full-time job I promise to attend culinary school. One of the things on my todo list for this first year is to attend some food classes, which I hope I’ll learn new things that I can include here.
My Favorite Type Of Cuisine
My favorite type of food is Mexican, which I notice that it’s surprisingly hard to find good quality Mexican food. Growing up, we had Taco Bell and a Chi-Chi’s which was a super far drive and closed 2004. I remember visiting Epcot for the first time, and my Dad let me have Mexican food from the fast food place for lunch and then booked dinner at San Angel Inn Restaurante inside the pyramid. I remember getting a Chile Relleno which is still one of my all-time favorite foods.
When I moved to Los Angeles, I couldn’t find good pizza. As a kid, I worked in a pizza joint that specialized in strombolis and on the east coast we take pizza for granted. Even as far south as Florida, there are great pizza shops in every strip mall. I befriended a chef at a Los Angeles Italian restaurant who told me he used to be George Steinbrenner’s personal chef. If you don’t know who George Steinbrenner is, he was the owner of the New York Yankees. I asked him why does the pizza suck in California. He agreed and had three theories. 1) They don’t have the same quality cheese on the west coast. The only cheese worthy of real pizza sold in c California in his opinion, is Polly-O. 2) Because labor is more expensive in California, most shops use frozen dough, which costs a lot less than making it daily from scratch. 3) True NY Pizza sauce has a very small amount of anchovies added to the sauce.
My favorite restaurant in the world no longer exists. It was the Famous Ray’s of Greenwich Village about one block from the New School in New York City on Northwest corner of 11th Street and 6th Avenue. Seinfeld did an episode about Ray’s pizza because in NYC, there is debate about the best pizza. Which Ray’s is the best and which was the original? There were court cases over the years, and there are still Ray’s Pizza around, but it’s not the same, in my opinion. If anything good comes from this blog, I would love to get my hands on their recipe and find out how they made their pizza, and I would especially love to know what brand of cheese they used. The guttergourmet from the dailymeal agreed with me about the legendary nature of this pizza.
Passionate About Science Fiction
My true passion is science fiction. In my spare time, I love to write science fiction stories. I have been working on a series of science fiction novels called “City Of Robots” for the last few years. I self-published a trilogy about Jane, the youngest human on the planet, as she graduates high school and lives in a society that continues to function because of a dependence on robots. The city is called New Albuquerque and was the location of the moon tether. The city was built to support moon tourists and was advertised as the world’s most modern city. In the city center, they replicated the food court from the moon resort, made up of 100 kiosks with the best culinary treats from around the world. When I wrote the book, I worried that I talked about food too much. It occurred to me that if I was going to do a food blog, I should work on putting together the recipes from each of those 100 kiosks. So the name for this site would need to reflect science fiction.
How Cosmic Meals Came To Be
The idea for this food blog came after one of those free blogging platforms deleted all my recipes. I started posting the recipes there for my reference because I love tinkering with recipes until I get them just right, and a lot of times, I would forget what I did to get them perfect when I made them again. My goal is to start with assembling all the recipes of the things I love to make, which I’ll categorize as the classics. As I have gotten into putting the site online, I have found some cool new things to try to make, which I’ll sprinkle in. Ultimately my long-term goal is to have 100 amazing recipes from the food court in my science fiction novel. I’m writing a trilogy prequel which takes place on the moon resort. The tough part is in Jane’s world 30 years after the incident that caused humanity’s extinction, there are also no mammals.
Plans For Cosmic Meals
I talked about some of the plans for this site. The first order of business is to put together a list of all my favorite classic recipes. Next, I would like to build out recipes and maybe even publish a cookbook for the City Of Robots series. But I also love to watch Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and Restaurant Impossible. If I see any cool things on those shows, I’ll try to recreate them and post my version of the recipe. And I promise to search the internet daily for great ideas and maybe one day attend culinary s school to become a certified chef, not just an amateur hack. The point of having this food blog is to convince everyone they can cook great food at home, even if you are not a professional. Like my Dad did for me growing up, all you need to do is follow a recipe and cook it with love. The trick to great food is to make it with love and use fresh, quality ingredients. If I had one wish, it would be for my wife will agree to move into a home with a gas stove.
Another idea is to start to grow my own fresh herbs. If you love to cook, one of the best things you can do is plant an herb garden. I have a Tower Garden, which is an indoor hydroponic system.
If you know anyone from NYC who worked at Famous Ray’s pizza of the village, please get me in touch with them.
