Air Fryer Baked Potato

baked potato in bowl topped with cheese bacon bits and Scallions

A baked potato should have a flaky texture inside and crispy skin on the outside.

Ingredients

  1. Russet Potato (any size)
  2. Butter
  3. Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese
  4. Scallion
  5. Sour Cream
  6. Salt
  7. Pepper
  8. Bacon Bits
  9. Ranch Dressing
  10. Chili
  11. Jalapenos

Instructions

  1. Scrub the potato with a separate sponge to get off fall the dirt and run it under water keeping in mind that potatoes, like chicken, carry salmonella and don’t cross-contaminate any surface.
  2. Pierce the potato with a sharp knife about a dozen times all around the entire potato.
  3. Cook for one hour at 400 degrees on the air fryer setting.
  4. Top it with tons of goodies. We do it like a potato bar everyone makes their own.

Notes

I have bought small potatoes and thought they would cook quicker, and I have got huge potatoes they all take an hour in the air fryer at 400 degrees. Do not use foil that causes them to stem as they cook, making the potato soggy. The best way to cook a potato is in an air fryer for one hour. You can’t screw it up. I see a ton of recipes that say 40 minutes. I’m not sure where they live, but it’s always one entire hour. A last note. I do not rub oil on the skin or salt the skin. Don’t complicate the process just remember to stab a few holes and bake it and eat it while it’s fresh out of the air fryer.
