If you have ever been to a restaurant that served honey mustard dressing and loved it, you might be like me and noticed it was available at the grocery store and bought it. When you got home and used the store bought dressing on a salad, it wasn’t as good. If you have had this happen, then I have good news for you. This is the most simple recipe on the site. The toughest part is getting the honey off the spoon while preparing it.
I like to use local honey from the farmer’s market. My crazy mom told me once that honey from local bees has special elements that are good to eat because something about it helps your immune system fight off local pathogens. I’m not sure what she was talking about. One thing about my mom is that she sounds crazy because of her communication style but 9 out of 10 times, she actually knows what she’s talking about. She was doing yoga before it was a thing, and she was talking about the environment long before Al Gore.
The other thing I notice is that the best kind of mustard to use is regular old yellow mustard. I usually stock Heinz brand from Costco when they offer it.
I only use Best Foods mayo, not Craft. Growing up, it was called Hellmann’s Mayonnaise.
As you probably know, a chef is only as good as the ingredients they use so I wanted to bring this to your attention.
The recipe is 2 parts mayo – 1 part mustard – 1 part honey. Nothing else is needed. Try it this way first. Let is chill for an hour before serving.
Is Hellmann’s and Best Foods mayonnaise the same?
My understanding is that Hellmann’s is the brand sold in the northeast and Best Foods brand is sold on the west coast. These taste exactly the same. As far as I know these are the exact same thing.
